December 3 - God’s Grace

Sing the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.” - Psalms 98:1

A song of praise for redeeming love is a new mystery hidden from ages and generations. Converts sing a new song, which differs from what they had sung. If the grace of God puts a new heart into our breasts, it will put a new song into our mouths. Let this new song be sung to the praise of God in consideration of the wonders he has wrought. The Redeemer has overcome all difficulties in our redemption and was not discouraged by the services or sufferings appointed him.

Let us praise him for the discoveries made to the world of the work of redemption, his salvation, and His righteousness, fulfilling the prophecies and promises of the Old Testament. In pursuance of this design, God raised his Son Jesus to be a Light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of his people, Israel. Surely, it behooves us to inquire whether his holy arm has won our hearts victory over the power of Satan, unbelief, and sin. If this be our happy case, we shall exchange all light songs of vanity for songs of joy and thanksgiving; our lives will celebrate the Redeemer's praise.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible describes God as the God who gives blessings. The greatest gift is the creation of the universe and giving life to creation. God is a loving God and the ultimate source for every life (Psalm 104:27-30). Every creation, angel, animal, plant, and human being exists by God, who gives the gift of life. God not only gives creation life but also works with them.

He makes history and directs history. God judges the world, and spontaneously, he blesses. We are saved only by His grace. In conclusion, God is a God who blesses. James also tells us that “every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17). He tells us that all gifts come from God.

Today’s church suffers from two problems. The first problem comes from someone who does ministry without being called into ministry and does not have the gifts. The second problem, oppositely, comes from someone who ignores the call to be in ministry despite his gifts.

God made us in His image. He gave us specific talents and gifts. The Holy Spirit who dwells in us makes us work, gives us the ability to work, and uses our talents to fulfill God’s will. Therefore, Jesus Christ tells us that “but he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more” (Luke 12:48). Consequently, we have to be faithful to God by using the talents that God granted us.

But prosperity, and the happy issue of events, ought also to be attributed to his grace so that he may always receive the praise he deserves, that of being a merciful Father and an impartial Judge. About the close of the psalm, he inveighs against those ungodly men who will not acknowledge God's hand amid such palpable demonstrations of his providence.”. - John Calvin.

Today’s Prayer: Ask God to “throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out his blessing” (Malachi 3:10) upon churches, agencies, and organizations that minister in the name of Christ throughout the World.

Prayer PointerAbout four days a week, I do pretty well at having morning prayer time. But even at that, it's a rambling sort of thing. What I have learned to do better is to try to keep my mind turned toward God and my ears inclined toward God throughout the day, and I think I'm doing better at that, but I've got a long way to go. – Max Lucado
