January 13 - A Vision of the Harvest

 

“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.” - Proverbs 29:18

 

 

Today, many of us like to use the word vision, especially in the context of church ministry. Vision can also be understood as one’s value(Proverbs 29:18). When there are visions, goals, and dreams, the church can work passionately and create creative ministries. Normally, we define vision as the ability to foresee and discern the future. 

 

In the Bible, the vision meant the message of prophets. The church does not distinguish between prophecy, dream, and vision. In the Bible, vision is the ability to see the future in the present. “After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield, your very great reward”(Genesis 15:1). Prophecy in the Bible knows the specific event in the future.

 

Therefore, vision can be understood as our willingness to focus on God’s intentions and directions. When God calls us, he has already given us the vision. We need to remember the vision God gave us for His work. For example, when we read 2 Samuel 7, we may think David was the one who had thought of building the temple of God, but God gave David the heart and the vision for the temple. “Nathan replied to the king,’ Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you. That night, the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying: ‘God and tell my servant, David, ‘This is what the LORD says” Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in?’”(2 Samuel 7:3-5).

 

We often tend not to follow God-given vision because we need to prepare. In other words, we are so focused on the present that we miss the direction of God. Sometimes, we fear losing security, so we avoid the challenge and the vision God gives us. The Bible reveals to us a more amazing and wonderful vision. God is already working in the harvest field and is waiting for us to join him. 

 

Before we spread the gospel, He is working on the field. We need to go out to the field of the world with a vision of harvest. “When I heard the voice of the LORD saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, “Here am I, Send me!”(Isaiah 6:8). “Don’t you have a saying. ‘It’s still four months until harvest?’ I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”(John 4:35). "As the Father has sent me, even so, I am sending you."(John 20:21)

Today’s Prayer: Praise God for his unswerving faithfulness in keeping all his promises and never forsaking his own. Give thanks that God gave his only begotten Son so that whoever believes in him should have everlasting life. Confess any unfaithfulness on your part to God. Commit yourself to being faithful to all your loved ones and keep all the promises you have made to them. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit and to give you the confidence that you are a member of his family and know God as “Abba Father.”

“묵시가 없으면 백성이 방자히 행하거니와 율법을 지키는 자는 복이 있느니라” - 잠29:18

 

 

오늘날 사람들이 비전이란 용어를 많이 언급하고 특별해 교회사역에 관해 비전를 많이 언급합니다. 비전은 사람이 가지고 있는 어떤 가치관이라고 말할 수 있습니다(잠 29:18). 비전과 목표, 그리고 꿈이 있으면 개인이나 교회는 열정을 가지고 사역하고 새로운 일들을 개발하고 감행하게 됩니다. 일반적으로 우리는 비전을 “앞날을 미리 보고 분별하는 능력”으로 정의합니다.

 

구약 성경에서 묵시 또는 비전은 선지자들이 전하는 메시지를 의미했습니다. 교회에서는 예언과 꿈, 그리고 비전을 구분하지 않는 것 같습니다. 성경에서 묵시와 비전은 현재의 상황에서 미래를 보는 능력을 의미합니다. “이후에 여호와의 말씀이 환상 중에 아브라함에게 임하여 이르시되 아브라함아 두려워하지 말라 나는 네 방패요 너희 지극히 큰 상급이라”(창15:1). 성경에서 예언은 미래에 일어날 특별한 사건을 미리 아는 것으로 말씀하고 있습니다.

 

그러므로 비전은 우리의 생각을 하나님의 의도와 방향에 집중시키는 것으로 이해할 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리를 부르실 때 비전을 주셨습니다. 그러므로 하나님의 사역을 위해 일할 때 우리에게 주신 비전을 기억하고 일해야 합니다. 예를들어, 사무엘하 7장에서 다윗이 성전건축에 대한 생각을 가진 것은 이미 하나님께서 그의 마음에 성전건축의 비전을 주셨기 때문입니다. “나단이 왕께 이르되 여호와께서 왕과 함께 계시니 마음에 있는 모든 것을 행하소서 하니라 그 밤에 여호와의 말씀이 나단에게 임하여 이르시되 가서 내 종 다윗에게 말하기를 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하되 네게 나를 위하여 내가 살 집을 건축하겠느냐”(삼하 7:3-5). 

 

하나님께서 주신 비전에 따라 순종하지 않는 대부분의 이유는 우리가 준비되어 있지 않기 때문입니다. 우리가 현실 문제에만 집중하고 있기 때문에 하나님이 보여주시는 비전과 방향을 보지 못하는 것입니다. 때로는 우리 자신을 먼저 생각하고 두려워하기 때문에 하나님께서 주시는 비전과 도전을 회피하는 경향이 있습니다. 성경은 우리에게 놀라운 비전을 말씀하고 있습니다.

 

우리가 복음을 전하기 전에 하나님은 이미 추수할 밭에서 일하십니다. 추수의 비전을 가지고 세상 추수밭으로 나가야 합니다. “내가 또 주의 목소리를 들으니 주께서 이르시되 내가 누구를 보내며 누가 우리를 위하여 갈꼬 하시니 그 때에 이르되 내가 여기 있나이다 나를 보내소서 하였더니”(사 6:8). “너희는 넉 달이 지나야 추수할 때가 이르겠다 하지 아니 하느냐 그러나 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 눈을 들어 밭을 보라 희어져 수수하게 되었도다”(요4:35).

오늘의 기도 : 모든 약속을 지키고 그의 백성들을 버리지 않으시는 변치 않은 하나님의 신실하심을 찬양하고 그의 아들을 믿는 자들에게 영생을 얻도록 독생자 아들을 주신 하나님께 감사하십시오. 하나님 앞에서 충성하지 않은 것을 고백하고, 사랑하는 사람들에게 신실하고 그들과 약속한 모든 것을 지키기로 헌신하고, 성령으로 충만하고 하나님을 “아바 아버지로” 알고, 그의 한 가족이 되었음을 확신하게 해 달라고 간구하십시오.
